When DI John Bright puts a vicious London gangland boss behind bars, it's not long before the death threats start coming. With his DCI suggesting he lies low for a while, his girlfriend Jude insists they need a holiday. Bright, against his better judgement, agrees.His instincts are to prove horrifically right. Passing through the French town of Neufchatel, Bright and Jude stay overnight at the pleasant, if strange, Hotel Sanglier - an establishment dominated by the tense atmosphere between the owner Loiuis and his wild, voluptuous fiancie Mariela.Then Mariela is discovered dead, and Bright is unable to account for his whereabouts. Suddenly, he finds himself in the unfamiliar position of suspect. Faced with a police force whose language, rules and customs he doesn't understand, frustrated by his virtual prisoner status, he realises the best way to clear his name is to help them find the killer . . .
